What is Fractional Resurfacing?
Fractional laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses laser energy microbeams to penetrate the epidermis and into the dermis. This exciting technology allows the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and stretch marks, in a safe and effective manner. The procedure typically lasts 60 minutes and is done in the office using only a topical anesthetic cream. Patients report minimal to no discomfort during the procedure. Patients with darker skin tones are also candidates for nonablative lasers as they do not induce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that often arises with ablative laser use on darker skin. Non-ablative procedures have the advantage of minimal to no downtime.
